- Dora Bingel Senior Center - Volunteer Opportunities
Van Driver - Transport senior citizens from their home to The Salvation Army for activities, to the store for groceries, etc. Various schedules are available. Need to have a valid drivers license, at least 25 years of age, and be able to pass background check and driving record. Please call Josie at 898-5854 for more information.
Leaders/Instructor - Looking for a Wii leader, book club leader, scrap book leader, bridge instructor, current events speaker, and chair exercise instructor. Hours and days are flexible Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
Bingo/Movie Day - Need help assisting with the day as well as $1.00 prizes. See Wish List for list of items.
Outing Leader - Leader needed once a month for 3-4 hours from April through September to assist choosing an outing location and accompany participants during the outing. Mass Department (Material Assistance Seasonal Services)
Items Needed - Donate various food and hygiene products to those in crital emergencies. See Wish List for list of food and hygiene items.
Volunteers needed - Daily help making food pantries and sorting food. Hours/days flexible, Monday through Friday between 9am-4pm. Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities Stepping Stone Child Development Center - Nationally accredited center providing quality child care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Items needed - diapers, pull-ups, baby wipes, new toys (no small parts please), new books, etc. Volunteer - Substitute grandparents and playground assistance both inside and outdoors. Telephone Reassurance Program - Reach out to a home bound senior citizen once a week with a phone call from your home or a personal visit. A six-month commitment is asked. Emergency Services volunteers needed - Individuals and groups who perform well under stressful situations are encouraged to help with:
• Operation of The Salvation Army Canteen (mobile kitchen) • Maintenance, cleaning and stocking of the Canteen • Feeding hungry victims and responders • Helping at emergency shelters • Staffing the Emergency Disaster Services Center • Supervision and/or training of other volunteers • Participating in emergency exercises
Training is provided at monthly meetings and through actual emergency situations. You are never required to respond to an emergency. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and in good health.
Seasonal Volunteer Opportunities THRU - Transitional Housing and Scattered Site Housing - For those previously homeless families who are preparing to live independently in community-based housing for final preparation for independent living. Items needed - See Wish List for list of items. Volunteer - occasional auto mechanic for small repairs. Spring and fall yard clean-up at scatter site houses.
