WHAT IS THE KROC CENTER?

  • A campus of opportunity that will provide character and confidence-building opportunities for children, youth, families and individuals
  • Designed to be a change-agent in an underserved community
  • Programs and services to at-risk and disadvantaged youth are designed to discover natural giftedness and to reach their potential
  • Programs must have a strong family component
  • A beacon of hope and opportunity for young people in three main areas:
    1. Education
    2. Sports and Recreation
    3. The Arts ~ Performing Arts and Fine Arts

As with all Salvation Army programs and services, there will be a spiritual component available.  For people to truly reach their full potential, the whole person must be served: body, mind and spirit.  All aspects of the center are open to the public and are optional.

  1. When will the Omaha Kroc Center open?
    Estimated Fall 2009.
  2. Who is designing the new Omaha Kroc Center?
    HDR Inc. is designing the building, and Kiewit Building Group Inc. is constructing the building.
  3. What will the Omaha Kroc Center cost?
    Joan Kroc’s trust has gifted $30 million for construction of a new building and $30 million for an endowment to support its future operations. The equivalent of ˝ of the construction cost, or $15 million, must be raised in the local community to complement the endowment.
  4. Who will oversee the Omaha Kroc Center once completed?
    The new Center will be owned and managed by The Salvation Army.
  5. Who is Heritage Services?
    The Salvation Army has contracted with Heritage Services for their construction management, fundraising, public relations and legal and accounting expertise, to manage the development of the Omaha Kroc Center.
