The Salvation Army is still in need of new school supplies to assemble more than 10,000 backpacks for children in need.  The following items are being accepted through August 13:  backpacks, crayons, markers, rulers, glue, erasers, spiral notebooks, two pocket folders, pencils, pens and filler paper.

The Salvation Army/KETV Seven Can Help Kids Back to School Backpack Program is providing thousands of local children with backpacks, school supplies and free physicals they will need to make the 2010-2011 school year one full of learning and fun.  This program is almost a week away from the first distribution of backpacks to children in the community.

Donations can be dropped off at any metro area First National Bank branch, Staples (151 N 78 Street) or The Salvation Army (3612 Cuming Street).  To donate online, visit www.givesalvationarmy.org.
Back To School Distribution is scheduled as follows:

 August 7, 9 a.m. – Noon: Omaha Public Library Millard Branch, 132 & Westwood Lane

  August 12 & 13, 9 a.m. to Noon and 1 – 4 p.m. and August 14, 9 a.m. – Noon: 
   The Salvation Army Kroc Center, 28 & Y, AND
    Omaha North Corps Community Center, 24 & Pratt

Free school physicals by Boystown Pediatrics on August 7, 12, and 13.
