THE OMAHA SALVATION ARMY OFFERS RELIEF FROM HEAT WAVE
The Salvation Army is opening its doors for people who need a break from the extreme heat. Three Salvation Army locations across the Omaha metropolitan area are designated as community cooling stations. The stations will open tomorrow and will remain open each day temperatures reach 90 degrees or above.
Tuesday, July 27 to Friday, July 30 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kroc Center (2825 Y Street) North Corps (2424 Pratt Street) Council Bluffs Corps (715 N 16 Street)
Saturday, July 31 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kroc Center
Sunday, August 1 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. North Corps Council Bluffs
Sunday, August 1 – 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Kroc Center
Cold drinks and light snacks will be provided to anyone seeking respite from the hot weather. Donations of bottled water are needed. Donations can be dropped off at the Lied Renaissance Center, 3612 Cuming Street, any day of the week at any time.
The Salvation Army also distributes fans free of charge to qualified individuals. Applications are available at The Salvation Army Lied Renaissance Center, 3612 Cuming St. Hours are 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Priority is given to people who are 50 years or older and those with medical disabilities. Proof of medical disability is required when applying for a fan. Call 898-5869 for more information.
